Q&A for Dr. Dood

Dr. Dood's Big Finish

Just wanted to mention that I was sitting down shooting up at Shari in these videos. She's not really 9' tall - though she appears to be :--)

Dr Dood's Presentation!

The Presentation Panel

Here is Shari's Professor, Dr. Erica (sorry, couldn't remember how to spell her last name) introducing the panel.

First presenter was Willie who wanted to encourage more Hispanic middle school students to take advanced placement math courses.

Next was Melissa, who was very enthusiastic about improving reading skills of her primary students!

Sorry, didn't get a photo of Dr. Dood presenting. But I did get her introduction and conclusion on video, which hopefully I can put into a separate post. Here's the whole panel with Dr. Erica:
and without Dr. Erica:

And Dr. Erica and her prize pupil - Dr. Dood!

Dr. Dood - Before the Presentation

The trip to watch Shari present her paper started quite early - I picked up Mom at 5:30AM and we met up with Dr. Dood at Fazoli's parking lot at 8:30AM. This was only a few miles from campus and so we were the first ones in the room. Here's a video of Shari giving us a preview of what is to come.

Here's the goodies that she got for being a presenter. First a canvas bag, which she gave to me:
And next, a TSU t-shirt she gave to me to give Gina. She said it was too big - Gina said it was too small. But Mom said it was just right. So she wound up with it.

New Fence - More Security

Finally got the new fence installed yesterday between us and the neighbors that recently acquired a pit bull pup. Looks good doesn't it?

Extra board at the bottom should help when both sets of dogs try to attack one another through the fence.

Only casualty was the cactus that hung on the old fence, but it found a new home on the steel easel that blends in well don't you think?

Striking contrast between the old and the new fence pickets. I'm thinking about just buying new pickets and nailing them myself to the old infrastructure, but Gina says I'm not butch enough to pull it off :--(

At least I have a green thumb - look how pretty my flowers are!

Graduation Party for the Bruce Kids

You've seen most of the festivities from Lori's camera. Mine will be reiterative to some degree. But, surely you don't mind seeing some other views of the creative cakes that Mark made.

And no one could ever tire of seeing Kaden, right?

Of course, he can get tired of having his photo taken!

Then there are the group shots...

And happy couples...

At this party even the singles look extremely happy to be there!

Well, ok...some appear happier than others...

Mother's Day Photos - FINALLY!

Mom proudly shows off her new t-shirt (gift from Denise) featuring great-granddaughter Aubrey!

Gina proudly shows off her new t-shirt from the 100-day Live Healthy Challenge that she, Jeraine & Annie all participate in. Our motto? Fit at 50! (Ok, so I'm already 52...so sue me!)

Little Kaden seems pretty proud of his outfit as well. Hey! When did he get here???

He arrived nearly the same time that Great Aunt Shari & Uncle Andy did. They couldn't wait to hold him.

Gina wanted a turn holding the little cutie patootie as well. I wonder if he ever gets tired of being passed from person to person.

Meanwhile Mom checks out the instructions on how to care for the flowering plant Shari brought her as a gift.

Then it was off to Gringo's Tex-Mex, where Mom had her traditional margarita on the rocks with salt around the rim.

And Annie joined her with a strawberry flavored frozen version.

Alena maintained her sobriety while awaiting a table.

Just a short wait and we were seated and soon feasting!

Kaden can sleep through anything! This place was really noisy! But Mom refrained from yelling for Gordo this year :--)

Alena, her mother-in-law, Cindy and the baby went back home right after the meal, as did Andy & Shari. But Annie was a good sport and came back to our house to play games with us.

Videos from Mother's Day

I'm still fixing the photos I took of both Mother's Day celebration and the Bruce Kids' graduation party. So I figured I would go ahead and post videos I took on Mother's Day weekend since I can't edit them in any way.

These first 3 videos are what little remained after about 10 minutes of very rough play with a nice dog toy that my friend Annie was nice enough to bring over to the pack as a present. They sure destroy stuff quickly!

This video was taken as we waited for a table at Gringo's Tex-Mex restaurant. Mom was asking for Alena's expert advice about her car.

And finally this one is of Mom at her house explaining the beautiful plant that Lisa gave her.

Mr Trip's A Mutt Too!

Unlike Porch Boy, who had at least one purebred parent, Trip comes from mixed parentage on both sides. He has no more than 36% of any particular breed. As you can see in his DNA certificate, he's mostly Dalmatian, MinPin, and Pug. With a little Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu thrown in, which I guess is why he's so small. You can click on the certificate to see it easier.

The part that sounds most like him from the description is in the Dalmatian, although he looks a lot more like the MinPin. The Dalmatian is known for its high energy and stamina. They need human attention and can become depressed and destructive without it. They have excellent memories and will hold a grudge for years if mistreated. They may be aggressive toward other dogs, espcially males toward other males. They can be strong willed and need firm consistent training. They make good watchdogs.

Actually all the breeds from which Trip springs have some mention of being a "good watchdog" and those of you who have come to our house can certainly attest to that!

Gina & I have decided to get another DNA test to do on Tater. Now, if she comes back from this lab with results showing she's part St. Bernard and Chihuahua then we'll KNOW it's a sham!
