Back to the Oldhams...

July was a tough month for me health wise. Still no excuse for not blogging in such a long time. Sorry. My last posting was about Glenn & Jeree's hippie lifestyle. I promised more photos of his Gazebo of Junk, but mine don't do it justice. Glenn's blog does a much better job. So check out this posting where he explains how it came into existence as well.

Continuing with my photos of our visit... in addition to living in the mobile homes, they have an outhouse complete with reading material...

Which Gina had to try out of course ;-)

And an outdoor shower, complete with lights so night-time bathing can take place...

Which Gina had to check out as well.

I'd be afraid of snakes and other critters joining me in there - in fact the shower head looks rather snake-like!

Since the nearest grocery store is not exactly around the corner, they also grow their own veggies in a garden.

And keep chickens for getting eggs in this portable coop...

And even more surprising, cook outside in a homemade oven.

Glenn built this himself out of some old tires he had found on the property. It looks a lot like the Pueblo Indian's outdoor oven we saw in Taos, NM. Only Glenn, being the artist that he is, adorned it with some ceramic tile he had taken from the old house's bathroom.

Here he shows Mom what's behind the little removable door.

For more info on this and all the other Oldham ingenuity, including the house he is building that will be "completely green" check out Glenn's blog.

Just one last thing I have to share about our visit with Glenn & Jeree. This video of the weather vane that they found on the property, and one last comment. I can't even imagine what it would be like to look at acreage of a bunch of junk and make such a beautiful world out of it. Kudos!
